A Place to Refresh, Gather & Stay
Designed as the social and practical heart of the glamping experience, this small hospitality pavilion brings together the essentials of staying on the land—refreshments, showers, restrooms, food, wine and a place to gather.
The architecture is intentionally simple and open, allowing the surrounding vineyard and Appalachian landscape to remain the experience.
Hospitality, Off the Grid
Conceived to operate with minimal dependence on conventional infrastructure, the pavilion explores an off-grid approach through passive design, natural ventilation, daylight, water-conscious fixtures, rainwater strategies and opportunities for on-site renewable energy.
Rather than bringing the city to the countryside, the goal is to make staying comfortably on the land possible with a lighter footprint.
Rituals of Life Outdoors
From Morning Coffee to Evening Wine
The refreshment suite becomes a flexible hospitality space throughout the day—coffee and breakfast in the morning, snacks and refreshments after exploring the property, and intimate wine tastings as the sun begins to set.
Large openings connect the interior directly to the covered patio, allowing indoor and outdoor hospitality to function as one continuous experience.
A Modern Camp Washhouse
Private showers, accessible facilities and thoughtfully designed restrooms reinterpret the traditional campground washhouse as something warmer and more considered.
Natural materials, simple detailing, daylight and connections to planting transform a necessary function into another part of the guest experience.
Architecture as a Backdrop
The pavilion is not intended to compete with the vineyard. Light wood, slender structural elements, generous glass and a restrained material palette allow the building to sit quietly within the site.
As the landscape matures around it, the architecture becomes less an object and more a frame for fire, food, wine, weather and community.
